The Dallas Mavericks are gearing up for their last game before the All-Star Break. Can they down the Detroit Pistons while trade rumors across the league heat up even more?

The Dallas Mavericks would love to pull out a win going into the All-Star break, and the Detroit Pistons give them a good opportunity to do so. The Pistons are a very beatable team, but are also no slouch by any means.

For Dallas to get a victory here, it could mean a renewed desire to get the pieces all ready for a final push towards the playoffs. Even as of now, the Mavs are only 3 games out of the playoff race. A win tonight could push them a little bit closer and push the organization to make some moves.

Mark Cuban’s comments yesterday were a little worrisome, but if we have learned anything about Cuban, Donnie Nelson, and the rest of the front office, it is that they can’t take no for an answer and they are really bad at passing up a good deal. This game could certainly factor into that.

The Mavericks will look to slow the overall team play of Detroit tonight as they have many guys that can do damage on any given night. The main matchup to watch out for will be Harrison Barnes vs. Tobias Harris as each player leads their respective team in scoring.

One big piece of news today is the revealing that Andrew Bogut should be active for the game tonight, per Earl K. Sneed. This could be viewed as Dallas’ view that he is ready, the potential to get his trade stock up, or even a look to see if he can gain back his minutes. No matter what the case, it will be good to see him back on the court again.

The Dallas Mavericks will look to comeback from a tough loss against the Boston Celtics tonight as they travel to Detroit for an early 6:30 CT tip-off. The Mavs could finish the night as close as 2 games from the playoffs and 10 games below .500.
