To conclude Mavericks of Memories Past, we ask…
Which season did the Dallas Mavericks throw out the best team?
Winston Zhang: The title squad will always be special, but, maybe because it was such an unexpected success (remember how much teeth-gnashing there was during the previous offseason), I really enjoyed this past season’s (2013-2014) team.
It was just such a breath of fresh air after the doom and gloom of 2012-2013, and it was just soul-nourishing to watch them (aside from those Clippers games, holy crap).
Bailey Rogers: My favorite Mavs squad was the 2010-2011 team, prior to Dirk and Caron going down. They were so good. And so much fun to watch. Busting streaks over and over. Pummeling all the best teams the NBA could throw at them. I loved it.
The 2006-2007 squad was dominant, but I honestly think 2010 Mavs could’ve crushed that squad. Coincidentally, it may have also been the best defensive squad Dallas fans have ever had the privilege of rooting for. And I’ll always have a soft spot for Tuff Juice and his straw chewing, even if Stern deprived all of us of that fun little ritual.
Sameer Moosa: 2011 playoffs. I know it’s the obvious choice but that team is arguably the best TEAM I have ever seen. Even with butler hurt, the midseason addition of Peja marvelously replaced him, and this team just had too many weapons.
Rick Carlisle got the most out EVERY player, even the Custodian and Ian Mahinmi. The backcourt bench with barea and Stevenson worked perfectly and the team defense on that team was the best I’ve ever seen the mavs play by far.
Ace Feltman: I feel like everyone is trying to find a good-looking girl when there’s a beautiful woman right in front of you.
Finally having a real center, overcoming the Caron Butler injury, one of the deepest, togetherness rosters in recent sports memory, and winning the thing.
Brian Gosset: 1. 2010-11 team 2. 2006-07 3. 2005-06
Rami Michail: It’s not the 2012 team….
