The Dallas Mavericks landed what they hope is a “big fish” in Houston Rockets small forward Chandler Parsons. The star in the making is optimistic about his future with the Mavericks and claims “even scratched the surface of how good I can be” in his young career.
“A bigger role and more leadership in Dallas is really what I wanted and what I felt was best for me at this point in my career,” Parsons said Tuesday evening on a conference call, via ESPN Dallas’ Tim MacMahon. “I thought this was the perfect place for me to do it. With the current guys that they have here and the system that [Coach Rick Carlisle] has, I just think it’ll be perfect for the style of play that I have.
“I have nothing but love for Houston, but at the same time, I’m definitely excited for a bigger role in Dallas and to be that guy on the team who can hopefully be here for a long time and be a big building block going forward.”
The Mavericks couldn’t agree more with Parsons’ assessment and see a big future ahead of him.
“I’m a very confident guy,” Parsons said. “That’s the big reason why I wanted to come to Dallas, because they do view me as that guy.”
