Mark Cuban on Vince Carter leaving: ‘Just the way it goes’

Dallas Mavericks fan favorite Vince Carter won’t be back for the 2014-15 season, signing a deal with the Memphis Grizzlies. The Mavericks wanted to keep Carter, but after extending an offer sheet for Chandler Parsons the Mavericks’ pool of available funds dwindled and the Carter looked for deeper pockets elsewhere.

At the Summer League in Las Vegas, Cuban talked to reporters about Carter leaving and he sounded a bit indifferent.

The Mavericks could find themselves without Parsons and money to spend though on Sunday night. There are rumblings that the Houston Rockets will match the Mavericks’ offer sheet for Parsons minutes before the deadline, a tactical move just to prevent the Mavericks from being players in free agency as long as they can by keeping that money tied up with Parsons.

In that case it is on to plan B.
