The Dallas Mavericks signed Chandler Parsons to an offer sheet early in free agency and the clock started ticking for the Houston Rockets to match the offer. The Rockets would have 72 hours to meet the offer, basically until late Sunday night.
In the meantime that cap space is tied up and can’t be used by the Mavericks, in case they don’t match the offer. If the Rockets do match the offer, then the Mavericks will be scrambling to find replacements essentially three days behind in the free agent discussion and with options potentially no longer available that were available when Parsons signed the offer.
The Rockets and Mavericks aren’t the best of friends as in-state rivals, and the Rockets won’t do the Mavericks any favors by letting them know what their intentions are regarding Parsons’ offer until the very last minute, according to a report from Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Expect Houston to push a decision on matching the Chandler Parsons offer sheet w/ Dallas until deadline on late Sunday night.

In the meantime all the Mavericks can do is try and line up replacements should the Rockets match the offer, or sit and hope that the Rockets don’t match the offer.
Either way it is out of their hands.
