Report: Carmelo Anthony has decided to re-sign with the Knicks

The Dallas Mavericks were hopeful they could bring a “big fish” free agent to north Texas and landed a meeting with coveted free agent Carmelo Anthony. The Mavericks must have got a bad feeling about their chances as they approached July 10th, the date the NBA’s moratorium on free agency lifted, because they signed Chandler Parsons of the Houston Rockets to an offer sheet.

In the early afternoon of Saturday it was reported that Anthony had made up his mind, electing to stay in New York with the Knicks. The reports initially didn’t indicate if it was for the five-year, $129.5 million max deal he is eligible for or a smaller dollar amount to assist the Knicks in surrounding him with a supporting cast. There were reports that he was taking the max-deal.
