Mavericks interested in Lance Stephenson

The Dallas Mavericks are reportedly LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony” href=””>moving on from their hope of signing either LeBron James or Carmelo Anthony. They’re reportedly interested in Chandler Parsons, Luol Deng and Trevor Ariza, and reportedly Indiana Pacers guard Lance Stephenson.

From Chris Broussard of ESPN:

Although his desire is to remain with the Pacers, a disappointed Stephenson began exploring the free-agent market after receiving what he felt was a low-ball offer on Tuesday, sources said.

Stephenson has drawn interest from the Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers, although both teams have other free agents prioritized above Stephenson, according to sources.

But Stephenson has also recently emerged as a target of the Mavericks. A month ago, or even a few weeks ago, Stephenson was not on Dallas’ radar, but over the past few days the Mavericks have registered their interest, according to sources.

You know, the Stephenson right? The guy famous for blowing on LeBron James during the Eastern Conference Finals of the playoffs.

He is a great player despite all the antics on the court when it comes to getting into LeBron James head, or attempting to. The Pacers reportedly offered Stephenson a five-year, $44 million contract but remain far apart on a deal. That figure might be a guide or starting point for Mavericks negotiations, and since the Mavericks don’t have Delonte West on their roster anymore they’re currently looking for a player to irritate opponents’ ears.

On the court Stephenson is a versatile player who led the league in rebounds for guards with 7.2 per game. Stephenson also led the NBA in triple-doubles last year with five.
