The Dallas Mavericks were one of a handful of teams that got to make pitches to New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony. Unfortunately it looks like Anthony won’t be taking his talents to north Texas.
From the New York Daily News:
Anthony is expected to accept the Knicks’ five-year, $129 million contract offer, and a decision could be made within the next 48 hours.
The rest of free agency is waiting on Anthony and LeBron James to decide for the dominos to start falling. That means the Mavericks should probably start exploring “Plan B” and Fort Worth Star-Telegram‘s Dwain Price thinks that is Los Angeles Lakers power forward Pau Gasol.

Gasol would certainly help bolster a front line for the the Mavericks and add some depth and versatility. Gasol on the other hand doesn’t necessarily fit the needs Anthony would’ve addressed.
