New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony went around the country visiting teams during free agency. He started with the Chicago Bulls, before visiting the Houston Rockets and the Dallas Mavericks.
The Rockets visit actually went long and the Mavericks had a rather quick meeting with Anthony, which owner Mark Cuban described as “all business and basketball.” There were reports, from the Dallas Morning News‘ Eddie Sefko in particular, that the meetings went well.
Mavericks meeting with Melo is finished. By at least one account it went swimmingly. Lots of talk about the front line and title potential.

Well now there is a report Dwain Price of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that Anthony’s visit with the Mavericks was all a charade.
A source said he thinks Melo is going 2 re-sign with the Knicks and that his inclusion of the #Mavs on his recruiting trip was a “charade.”

It doesn’t necessarily make a whole lot of sense, Anthony already had visits with three other teams in the Los Angeles Lakers, Bulls and Rockets to try and scare the Knicks. If there was zero interest from Anthony in the Mavericks there would be no need to use them as a charade, with three other visits lined up.
But there you have it, from Mr. Price.
