The Dallas Mavericks are looking for a new starting point guard, and may have finally determined their top target.

According to Eddie Sefko, the team has Sacramento Kings point guard Isaiah Thomas on their “radar”, but their may be a couple of hurdles.

Thomas, 25, is currently a restricted free agent, which allows the Kings to match any offer he may sign. But with their recent signing of Darren Collison, they may be ready to part with the guard. The other hurdle comes from the Mavericks side. The team is trying to retain Devin Harris, but with Raymond Felton currently under contract, the team may be hesitant to have three point guards on the roster making a substantial amount.

Thomas is coming off his best season as a pro. During his third season, he averaged career-highs 20.3 points, 6.3 assists, 1.3 steals, and shot 45.3% from the floor.

With Jose Calderon traded to New York, Harris not under contract, and Felton and Gal Mekel as the only point guards on the roster, the team has been actively looking to fill the position.
