With Shawn Marion and Vince Carter on the market, small forward is a position of need for the team. With reports surfacing of Carter looking for a big payday and the Mavericks won’t receive a discount, there may be more change at the position than expected.
Along with small forwards Deng and Parsons, Paul Pierce has reportedly been contacted by Dallas.
Blazers, Grizzlies, Bulls, Mavericks, Rockets … teams I’m told called tonight to register interest in Brooklyn’s Paul Pierce BESIDES Clips

Pierce has been contacted by plenty of teams, and rightfully so. The 16-year veteran can be viewed as a key rotation piece to a contending team.
Pierce, 36, is coming off his worst season as a pro. He averaged a career low 13.5 points, but still shot 37.3% from three for the disappointing Brooklyn Nets.
Regarding the Mavs interest, it’s unlikely they would view him as a starting piece, but instead could be an insurance policy incase Carter decides to play elsewhere.
