NBA Rumors: Mavericks Showing Interest In Paul Pierce?

The first hour-plus of free agency has already been a frenzy. The Dallas Mavericks have already been linked to Chandler Parsons, Spencer Hawes, Luol Deng, Isaiah Thomas, and others.

With Shawn Marion and Vince Carter on the market, small forward is a position of need for the team. With reports surfacing of Carter looking for a big payday and the Mavericks won’t receive a discount, there may be more change at the position than expected.

Along with small forwards Deng and Parsons, Paul Pierce has reportedly been contacted by Dallas.

Pierce has been contacted by plenty of teams, and rightfully so. The 16-year veteran can be viewed as a key rotation piece to a contending team.

Pierce, 36, is coming off his worst season as a pro. He averaged a career low 13.5 points, but still shot 37.3% from three for the disappointing Brooklyn Nets.

Regarding the Mavs interest, it’s unlikely they would view him as a starting piece, but instead could be an insurance policy incase Carter decides to play elsewhere.
