Mark Cuban uses Cyber Dust app to update Mavs fans on free agency

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is a brilliant man, and his latest ploy is a move of sheer genius. The Mavericks come into free agency with a ton of cap space and pursuing the biggest names on the market, which includes New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony and Miami Heat’s LeBron James.

While fans frantically search Twitter and news outlets for updates on the latest going-ons with the Mavericks, they could get updates from Cuban himself. However, Cuban won’t be using the normal route of Twitter, instead he’ll be using his new app, Cyber Dust.

From the Dallas Morning News:

Cuban is using ‘Cyber Dust’ to send out messages and update fans on what the Mavericks’ plans are. The screen name to follow is ‘blogmaverick’ and Cuban has asked fans to not take screen shots or they will be deleted as a follower.

“I’m going to be sending out blasts on what we are doing on Cyber Dust, so you can add me at ‘blogmaverick,'” Cuban said on “That will be where you are able to get any inside information. I won’t be tweeting it.”

For those unfamiliar with Cyber Dust, it is like Snapchat for text messages, your correspondence will be deleted after a  matter of seconds on your phone. It is a brilliant way to exploit information-hungry Mavericks fans and get them to download the app helping out another business venture of his.
