NBA: Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh join LeBron James and Opt Out

The Big-3 signed in Miami together and now the Big-3 will test free agency together.

LeBron James announced he’d test the free agent waters earlier in the walk; now Miami Heat teammates Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh will follow his path.

All three will be forfeiting $40+ million by terminating the final two seasons of their contracts.

During their four seasons together, the Heat have been in the finals four times. Losing during the 2011 campaign to Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks. They would then repeat during 2012 and 2013, beating the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs. This season, they fell to the Spurs 4-1 in the Finals.

The loss to the Spurs may be seen as the reason for the Big-3 opting out. Two possible options are the Big-3 splitting up, or they could take on smaller deals in an effort to retool the roster.

Wade, 32, averaged 19 points, 4.7 assists, and 4.5 rebounds, but missed 28 games due to knee and other issues.

Bosh, 30, had another underrated and undervalued season; he averaged 16.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1 block, and 1 steal.

Udonis Haslem has also opted out of his contract with the Heat.

Free agency begins July 1st.
