NBA Rumors: Sacramento Kings to Trade For Josh Smith?

After a disappointing first season with the Detroit Pistons, it comes as no surprise that the team would look to move forward Josh Smith.

With Stan Van Gundy now coaching and running the team and Greg Monroe wanted back to pair next to center Andrew Drummond, it’s no shock that Smith would be the odd man out, as he isn’t a natural fit at small forward.

Playing small forward, Smith averaged 16.4 points, 6.8 rebounds (lowest since 2005-2006 season) and career lows of 1.4 blocks and 41.9% shooting from the floor in his first and lone season with the Pistons.

A trade to the Sacramento Kings would allow him to move back to power forward and complete the Kings frontline alongside Rudy Gay and DeMarcus Cousins.

Smith just completed the first year of a four-year/$54 million contract.

Marc Stein has also reported that the Kings may be looking to trade for the Boston Celtics’ Rajon Rondo with their 8th pick in thursday’s draft.
