It’s awards time! Sadly, not a single Dallas Mavericks’ player earned any of the end of season honors, but that doesn’t mean we can’t hand out our very own.
As always, we save the best for last. And the Most Valuable Maverick is…
Brian Gosset (@Gosset41): Dirk. Even reaching 36 years of age, Nowitzki was still able to lead the team in points yet again. He was our most important player, and our best, and it showed in the playoffs why he’s so important to the team. Ellis is the no-doubt runner up.
Bailey Rogers (@BRogers789): Dirk. This may have been closer than most years I’ve been a Mavs fan, but it’s still Dirk. He’s the engine that makes this whole thing run. Even when he was off, he’s enough of a legend that other teams have to plan for him, and that helps everyone else get better looks.
Jose De Leon (@JoseOfLion06): Dirk. This wasn’t a no-brainer like it has been for the last decade-plus. I considered Monta Ellis for a few seconds but in the end it’s still Dirk that drives the bus. Before the season started, I predicted he’d average 22-and-8. While he fell shy of my RPG prediction, he did hit the 22-point mark (okay, okay, 21.7 but let me have my way by rounding up). I had high expectations because the man is still capable of playing at an elite level. Even if the Mavs can secure a “big fish” in the offseason for 2014-15, I fully believe the team MVP will still be the Big German.
Rami Michail (@RamiMichail): C’mn now…we all know it’s Dirk.
