It’s awards time! Sadly, not a single Dallas Mavericks’ player earned any of the end of season honors, but that doesn’t mean we can’t hand out our very own.
Up first? The young guns. The Mavericks brought in three rookies this season – Ricky Ledo, Shane Larkin, and Gal Mekel – While neither truly had a large impact on the season, we will still name a Rookie of the Year.
Brian Gosset (@Gosset41): Shane Larkin He’s just going to get better. He had some good games, I think he had three steals in his season debut, and he had 18 vs Phoenix when Calderon was injured. I think he’s our quickest player and he will get stronger. He’ll be really good for us if he can gain some weight and drive in the lane like Ellis does. His shot will be much better and I see him being one of our better 3-point shooters next season. Who else is in the running here?
Bailey Rogers (@BRogers789): Shane Larkin. There isn’t another legitimate candidate, so if anyone else picks Ledo or Mekel, I will punch them in the face.
Rami Michail (@RamiMichail): This is a tough call between Mekel and Larkin. Easy to forget that when Harris and Larkin were down, Mekel was the primary backup to Jose Calderon. While, he didn’t play exceptionally well, he at least stabilized the backup spot. So, I’m gonna go with Mekel.
