Game 5 once again featured a close finish between the Dallas Mavericks and San Antonio Spurs; with the Spurs edging the Mavs 109-103.
Dirk Nowitzki: 26 points and 15 rebounds. Just the 15th time in his postseason career he’s put up that type of stat line. Most importantly, he finally starting looking like the Dirk of old, especially in the fourth quarter.
Vince Carter: 28 points on 10-16 (7-9 3pt). Kept the Mavericks alive while everyone else was stinking it up.
Tony Parker: 23 points and 5 assists. Fatherhood and a bum ankle didn’t slow him down. Had the dagger 3 late in the game as well.
Tiago Splitter: 17 points and 12 rebounds. Had a big fourth quarter, both scoring and rebounding.
Manu Ginobili: 19 points and 5 assists. Mavs have no answer for the Mavericks Killer.
Tim Duncan: 16 points and 12 rebounds. Mr. Fundamental having another quiet but great impact.
May come as a surprise, but going with the big man Splitter. His ability to excel as the roll man in the pick-n-roll has hurt the Mavericks drastically. Also, his rebounding and defense on Nowitzki have been better than good.
