Prior to last week when Dirk Nowitzki was named the Western Conference player of the week, not a single Dallas Mavericks’ player won the award. Monta Ellis makes it two straight weeks that a Mavericks’ player has earned the honors, which is a first in Mavericks’ history.
Jeff Teague of the Atlanta Hawks earned the honors for the East.
In a week where the Mavericks went 2-1, Ellis averaged 25.7 points (51.6% fg) and 4.7 assists.
In the biggest game of the season, Ellis dropped a season-high tying 37 points against the Phoenix Suns in the winning effort.
The win clinched a playoff berth for the Mavericks.
On the season, Ellis averaging 19.0 points, 5.8 assists, and 1.7 steals.
Ellis and the Mavericks conclude the season on Wednesday, where they’ll face the Memphis Grizzlies in a game that may decide who will lock up the 7th seed out west.
