Mavericks' Jose Calderon (Facial Injury) To Play Against Thunder

The Dallas Mavericks (42-29) will need everyone at full strength in an effort to get back to the playoffs, especially their floor general and top 3-pt shooter.

The Mavericks were delivered good news with Jose Calderon being able to play in Tuesday’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Coach Rick Carlisle after shoot around,

We’re fortunate. It could have been much worse.

Calderon was injured one minute into the game against the Brooklyn Nets. He caught in an inadvertent whack to the place by Nets’ rookie big man Mason Plumlee.

Calderon’s absence was severely missed after he wasn’t able to return.. A team that averages 104.6 points a night, put up just 104 with overtime and shot 38.5% from the field in the loss to the Nets.

Calderon is second on the team in assists with 4.8 a game to go with his 11.4 points a night.

Most importantly, Calderon gives the Mavericks a shooting threat, making the 7th most 3s in the NBA (166), shooting the NBA’s 5th best mark (45%), and is 4th in the NBA in assist-to-turnover ratio (3.78).

Calderon’s return also allows the Mavericks to keep Devin Harris on the bench and use him as a spark plug alongside Vince Carter and Brandan Wright.
