The Minnesota Timberwolves (24-26) playoff hopes have hit another snag.
After losing starting center Nikola Pekovic, the team will now be without second leading scoring Kevin Martin.
Martin will be out indefinitely due to a thumb injury. The MRI showed that he has a fractured distal phalanx in his left thumb.
The injury was suffered friday in the loss against the New Orleans Pelicans.
Martin has averaged 19 points on 42.7% shooting this season during his first season with the Wolves.
J.J Barea, Chase Budinger, and even rookie Shabazz Mohammad should see some time at shooting guard now.
With Kevin Love out for the second straight game tonight against the Portland Trailblazers and Pekovic likely not to return prior to the All-Star break, the Wolves may find themselves in a hole after the break.
With the Phoenix Suns, Golden State Warriors, Dallas Mavericks, Denver Nuggets and Memphis Grizzlies all ranked higher than the Wolves, injuries once again may have dampened another season.
