The Dallas Mavericks (30-21) took down the Utah Jazz (16-33) 103-81.
The Mavericks led the whole way to extend their win streak to 4 games and have won 5 of their last 6 games.
Team Have It All: Monta Ellis and Dirk Nowitzki combined for 42 points on 13-26 shooting.
Positive: Having Dirk playing just 26 minutes in the blow-out.
Negative: Ellis leaving the game with a hip injury. Severity still not known
Marvin Williams Hot First Half: Williams came out on fire. He hit five 3′s and totaling 21 points in the half with Nowitzki guarding him. Williams went scoreless in the second half as the Mavs switched Nowitzki off the forward.
Snubbed: A day after not being elected to the NBA 3-pt contest, Jose Calderon rained in four 3′s on seven attempts. He finished the game with 12 points and 7 assists.
Defense: The Mavs gave up a season low 81 points tonight. The Jazz shot 40.8% from the field and were forced into 16 turnovers.
Plus/Minus: Every single Maverick had a positive plus/minus. To counter that, every single Jazz player was negative.
The Mavs took care of business against the West’s worst as they should have. Outside of Williams hot start, the Mavs held control throughout the game. Only negative hinges on the severity of Ellis’s hamstring.
The Mavs begin a three game road trip against the Boston Celtics (18-33) Sunday at 5 PM CT on NBA TV.
