The NBA Slam Dunk Contest is back!
After years of ridicule, it looks like the NBA and fans have finally got the big name lineup they’ve all been waiting for.
Reigning champion Terrence Ross of the Toronto Raptors is back to defend his title, but he’s not who fans will be excited to see.
Portland Trailblazers’ guard Damian Lillard got the ball rolling when he accepted the invite to participate in the Slam Dunk Contest. Lillard will have a busy weekend as he’ll be the first player ever to participate in all five events (Dunk Contest, 3-pt shootout, Skills Challenge, Rising Stars, and All-Star Game).
Paul George from the NBA’s best Indiana Pacers will join in the festivities. This will be actually be George’s second go around in the competition. He participated during the 2012 weekend but didn’t come out the victor (Jeremy Evans).
First time All-Star and Washington Wizards’ guard John Wall will also participate in the event. Wall is arguably one the most athletic point guards in the league.
Rookie guard Ben McLemore of the Sacramento Kings and second year forward Harrison Barnes of the Golden State Warriors round out the roster.
The Sprite Slam Dunk Contest will be Saturday night, February 15th.
