The Lakers (16-31) have been reported to be shopping the 33-year-old throughout the season. With the playoffs out of the picture and Kobe Bryant not he self for another 3 weeks at the least, the rebuilding process may begin sooner than later.
Injured big man Emeka Okafor would be the center piece of the return for the Lakers. Okafor’s contract expires after this season, creating greater cap room for the Lakers to rebuild though free agency.
The sixth place Suns (29-18), would add one of the best all-around offensive bigs in the game. With the Suns expecting Eric Bledsoe back and adding Gasol, they may be a lock for the playoffs this season.
In 44 games, Gasol has averaged 17 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks.
