Shawn Marion out Tonight; Demarcus Cousins questionable

Dallas Mavericks starting small forward Shawn Marion will miss tonight’s game vs. the Sacramento Kings due to a nagging shoulder injury.

“Trix” originally injured the shoulder January 7th vs. the lowly Los Angeles Lakers after taking a nasty spill. He missed 4 games, where the Mavericks managed a 3-1 record, but his absence was sorely missed, as it will be tonight.

Marion was averaging 10 points and 5.9 rebounds in the 7 games since his return to the starting lineup.

Jae Crowder is expected to make a fill-in start, his 7th of the season. Extra minutes will be available for him and also maybe Wayne Ellington, if he’s still interested in contributing this season.

On the other end, the Kings center and All-Star snub Demarcus Cousins is questionable due to a sprained ankle and has missed the last four games. As important as the Matrix is for our Mavs, Cousins’ status is one to keep an eye on as Aaron Gray would be the probable starter. Quite a difference there.

UPDATE: Cousins has been ruled out for tonight’s game.

Mavs and Kings tip-off shortly after 7:30.
