With six games on the slate tonight, Kevin Durant once again took stage.
MVP: Durant just can’t be stopped this January: putting up career-highs, triple doubles, and now adding a game-winner. Durant scored 41 points but none bigger than the last two. Durant hit a contested pull-up jumper in-between three defenders to give the Oklahoma City Thunder the win over the Atlanta Hawks. This game featured the Players of the Week. KD won it for the West and Paul Millsap won it for the East. Millsap finished with a team high 23 points.
Stealing A Game: Up 3 with 17 seconds left, a Brooklyn Nets win was secured, right? Wrong. John Salmons scored a quick layup for the Toronto Raptors then Patrick Patterson stole the inbounds pass. He fed the ball to Kyle Lowry who gave it right back to Patterson who hit the game winning shot.
No Longer The Worst: The Utah Jazz took down the shorthanded Sacramento Kings 106-99. The Jazz are no longer last in the west with the Kings holding that honor now. Derrick Favors led the way with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Back at .500: The Minnesota Timberwolves took down the Chicago Bulls to get to 22-22 on the season. Kevin Love had a game high 31 points. The Wolves haven’t been able to break the .500 point since being 8-7.
Best vs Least: These two playoff Western conference teams took care of business against the mediocre East. The Phoenix Suns took out the Philadelphia 76ers behind Gerald Green’s 30 points. Jamal Crawford led the way with 25 points to give the Los Angeles Clippers over the NBA worst Milwaukee Bucks.
