With second year forward Donatas Motiejunas (D-Mo) unhappy with his current role, the Houston Rockets have explored trade options for the 7 footer.
With a lack of minutes and role for the young forward, he and his agent have begun to look for a possible trade.
Matiejunas’ agent, Virgininus Bulotas said,
A few weeks ago, there were talks between Rockets and Celtics, but later everything stayed the same. Also the Mavericks showed some interest in Donatas.
The big man is only 23 years old, so interest in him from the Dallas Mavericks would come to no surprise.
The Mavericks have continually been in the market for a big man. D-Mo has shown the ability to score inside and out, rebound, and pass. The biggest question mark isn’t around his skill, but his motor. He hasn’t shown consistency warranted for him to gain a consistent role.
The Mavericks have turned around the career of Brandan Wright after struggling with the New Jersey Nets and Golden State Warriors.
If the Mavericks were able to pry away the big man from the Rockets for not much at all, they should jump on it. Not many big men with his all around game fall in your lap.
The big Lithuanian was drafted 20th overall in the 2011 by the Minnesota Timberwolves before sending his rights to the Rockets.
Motiejunas spent a season overseas before joining the Rockets.
He’s spent last season stuck behind Omar Asik, and now finds himself stuck behind Dwight Howard.
In a season and a half, D-Mo has only played in 63 games, averaging 4.9 points and 2 rebounds.
