Texas Legends To Claim P.J. Hairston

UPDATE: The Texas Legends officially claimed P.J. Hairston today.

The Dallas Mavericks’ D-League affiliate Texas Legends have claimed former University of North Carolina guard P.J. Hairston.

He has not played this year for UNC due to violating NCAA rules.

On Decemer 20th, 2013 UNC decided not to reinstate Hairston, which has led him to leave the school and pursue the NBA D-League.

Last season as a Sophomore, the 6’6″ Hairston led the Tar-Heels in scoring with 14.6 points per game and hit 89 3′s (39.6%)

He won’t be eligible to play in the NBA this season, as he must enter the NBA draft.

He won’t be the first player to enter the play in the D-League prior to being drafted.

Glen Rice Jr. was drafted in the second round by the Washington Wizards after spending a year in the D-league. He joined the D-League’s Rio Grande Valley Vipers and led them to win the Championship after being kicked off of Georgia Tech’s basketball team for his Junior year.
