Dirk Nowitzki did not participate in shoot-around this morning in preparation for tonight’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers. The Dallas Mavericks star instead rode a stationary bike and is currently listed as a game-time decision.
Nowitzki rolled his ankle New Year Day in a win over the Washington Wizards during the first quarter, but later returned to play the rest of the game.
Coach Rick Carlisle stated after the game that he did not know the severity of his injury, but that Dirk is a gladiator player that understands how important each game is. The Mavericks are currently in the eighth spot in the Western Conference.
The move to not participate this morning could only be precautionary or simple gamesmanship by the home team. Dirk has missed only one game this season after missing 29 games last season.
The Mavs will attempt to equal their longest win streak (4) tonight against the high scoring Los Angeles Clippers led by MVP candidate Chris Paul.
