As the Dallas Mavericks were patiently awaiting the return of Brandan Wright, they were also waiting for 6th man and one of Rick Carlisle’s “Big 3″ Vince Carter to regain his form. Carter struggled for the most part of the season as he’s seen his scoring, rebounding, and shooting percentages decrease compared to last season.
It seems the return of Wright has also got the Vince Carter we all expected to see this season to return. In the two games Wright has played in Carter is putting up averages of 14.5 points, 7.5 assists, 5 rebounds, and shooting 56% (9-16) from the field and 67%(4-6) from 3.
We can’t expect the 36-year old Carter to put these numbers up every game, but if he can anchor the second unit and shoot a good percentage from the floor the Mavericks will get much needed fire power behind Dirk Nowitzki, Monta Ellis, and Jose Calderon.
The play of Carter and Wright may lead to Carlisle being hesitant to start Wright, as these two Tar-Heels have wasted no time to pick up from where they left off last season.
