The Dallas Mavericks did not need Dirk Nowitzki (14-10) nor head coach Rick Carlisle to defeat the Milwaukee Bucks (5-19). Both Dirk and Carlisle missed tonights contest due to illness.
The Mavs took a double digit lead in the first quarter and never allowed the Bucks to get any closer. The 38 points scored in the first quarter was a season high. The led by as much as 34 points at one point during the game.
Brandan Wright returned to the lineup for the first time this season and led the team with 19 points in less than 19 minutes. Jose Calderon hit 16 of his total 18 points in the first half. Shawn Marion had a solid game, 13 points and 12 rebounds. Vince Carter had a season high 9 assists.
O.J.Mayo was 1-for-6 for only four points in his return to Dallas. He also was not booed as much as expected by the 19,973 fans at the American Airlines Center.
Tonight was the annual “Seats for Soldiers” event were season ticket holders allow wounded veterans to sit in their seats. Over 100 veterans sat courtside to watch the game. The Mavericks have a 8-1 record now for this special event.
Point of Interest: With Wright back in the lineup, Samuel Dalembert did not play at all tonight.
They continue their homestand Wednesday against Memphis and Friday against Toronto.
