Dallas Mavericks vs Milwaukee Bucks Preview 12.14.2013

The Dallas Mavericks (13-10) take on the Milwaukee Bucks (5-18) tonight at the American Airlines Center. This will be the second meeting between the two teams this season. The Mavericks look to bounce back from a 2-2 road trip with a three game homestand starting tonight.

This will also mark the return of former Maverick O.J. Mayo to Dallas. Mayo was a dominate scoring force for the Mavs for the first half of last season, but things quickly soured at the end. The franchised finished the season 42-42 and out of the playoffs for the first time in over a decade. Mayo was not signed during the offseason. He signed with the Bucks on July 13th.

The Bucks did not re-sign their scoring threat from last season, as Monta Ellis signed with Mavericks on July 23rd. The Bucks fans let their feelings be heard when Ellis returned with his new team on November 9th and they booed him constantly. The Mavericks won the game 91-83 and Ellis led the team with 18 points. He leads the Mavericks this season in points per game (21.4), assists per game (5.6), and steals per game (1.7).

The crowd tonight will return the favor and boo Mayo repeatedly.

Tonight will be the season debut for Brandan Wright for the Mavericks. He is returning to lineup after injuring his shoulder in preseason.

Dirk Nowitzki has been the hot hand in the month of December, averaging 23 points per game. The Mavericks have a 3-2 record for the month so far. They are 9-2 at home and 4-0 at home against Eastern Conference teams.
