Dallas Mavericks vs Atlanta Hawks Recap

Monta Ellis sure made a great first impression for the Dallas Mavericks.  Ellis was able to finish the game with two straight assists off the pick-n-pop to Dirk Nowitzki then followed it with a three of his own off of a Jose Calderon assist.  Ellis finished with a game high 32 points and added eight assists.  Those three straight threes for the Mavericks were able to seal what was a close game for the first 3+ quarters.  Nowitzki finished with 24 points, 5 assists, and 4 rebounds and 6th man Vince Carter added 21 point for the Mavericks.

The Atlanta Hawks got great performances from Jeff Teague (24pt, 9asts) and Paul Millsap (20pts), but only got 11 points from center Al Horford.

The Mavericks allowed too much dribble penetration to Teague and Dennis Schroder for the first three quarters and had tendencies to over help on the weak side, which allowed DeMarre Carroll and Cartier Martin to combine for 31 points.  The Mavericks also tallied 20 turnovers with Ellis recording 7 and Calderon 4 to go along with his 11 assists.

The Mavericks play in Houston Fri, Nov 1 @ 7:00 CT
