Mavericks Release Bernard James

Bernard James has been released from the Dallas Mavericks in order make salary cap room to officially sign free agent Monta Ellis. James had a very impressive rookie campaign with limited minutes and the Mavericks hope to re-sign him at a later date if he is still available.

There are teams interested in James as a project player for the future. The Mavericks are still in the running to acquire Greg Oden also to play with newly signed big man Samuel Dalembert. Jae Crowder is now the only player remaining with the team from the 2012 draft class.

Story was originally reported by ESPN’s Marc Stein and Bryan Guiterrez.
