Mavs get to .500; Dirk Nowitzki reaches 25k points and 9k Rebounds

The same night New Orleans said goodbye the Hugo the Hornet, the Dallas Mavericks finally said goodbye to their hairy reminder of a sub-par season. The Mavs dominate the New Orleans Hornets, soon to be Pelicans, 107-89 to finally get to .500 (40-40).

For Dirk Nowitzki, tonight he became the 17th player to join an elite club of basketball Hall of Famers with 25,000 points scored in the NBA. He is also the 9th player to do so with 9,000 rebounds. A true testament to his longevity of playing at a high level. Nowitzki was also the first Maverick to shave.

“My wife had stopped kissing me somewhere in February , joked Nowitzki. “It feels good to shave again.” Dirk finished the night with 19 points as his team shot 52% from the field.

Shawn Marion led the team with 21 points, 7 boards, and 6 assists.

The Mavs come back home to the AAC to play the Memphis Grizzlies, as they try to move up their playoff seeding. Memphis leads the season series 2-1.
