Quick Take: Lakers Rout Mavericks (Dallas Mavericks 2012-2013)

The Lakers arrived in Dallas for a rematch looking to avenge their season opening-loss and things couldn’t have gone more their way.

Metta World Peace hit four consecutive three-pointers in the first quarter alone and the rest of the Lakers were also red hot while the Mavericks were just the opposite.   The Lakers also played inspired defense causing shots to be altered and numerous turnovers, taking a 65-38 lead into halftime.  Things never got better and the Lakers triumphed in a big way, 115-89.

The rebounding advantage for the Lakers told a similar story as they won the battle of the boards 61-39.

Metta World Peace couldn’t miss in the fist quarter and finished the game with 19 points, tied with Kobe Bryant and Antawn Jamison for game high scorer and leading 6 Lakers in double figures.

The Mavs two “big guns” for most of the season, O. J. Mayo and Chris Kaman shot a combined 7-for-27 and 17 points between them, both well below their averages and Darren Collison had another disastrous night shooting 1-for-10.  Vince Carter led the Mavericks with 15 points.

Not that there’s much else to say but we’ll have a full report tomorrow on The Smoking Cuban.
