The Mavericks moved to 4-1 with another solid performance against the visiting Toronto Raptors. Although they built a 12-point lead by the end of the first quarter, Toronto shaved the margin in each of the subsequent periods and the Mavericks had to hold on for a 109-104 victory.
Playing without Shawn Marion, Elton Brand, Roddy Beaubois and that other tall blonde guy whose name escapes me, the Mavericks got yet another solid round performances from veterans and rookies alike. Chris Kaman led the Mavs with 22 points and 8 rebounds while O. J. Mayo matched his 22 points plus 5 rebounds and 6 assists.
The Raptors were playing without leading everythinger Kyle Lowry and longtime starter Jose Calderon filled in. Andrea Bargnani lead Toronto with 25 points and 9 rebounds while DeMar DeRozan had 24/6 to go with 7 assists. Amir Johnson added 18 points and 11 rebounds.
The game moved the surprising Mavs to 4-1. The Raptors, whose record doesn’t reflect their overall play, fell to 1-4.
