The Mavs head to Wichita, Kansas Wednesday night to fact the reigning Western Conference Champions, who have changed very little from last year. Regardless of an apparent lopsided advantage for Oklahoma City, it’s still preseason and the game provides a great opportunity to see what some of the new and younger guys are really made of. With Dirk, Chris Kaman, Shawn Marion and Vince Carter all sitting out, the game will offer a good look at who is making progress while facing a very good OKC team.
As mentioned, the Thunder haven’t made any significant changes from last year. They will still ride on a triumviarte of offensive firepower with Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and James Harden, while expecting solid defense from Kendrick Perkins, Thabo Sefolosha and Serge Ibaka, one of the best defenders and shot blockers in the league. Based on the Mavs rotating struggles this preseason, including defense, turnovers, and shooting, containing the Thunder may be a real problem.
