Dallas Ready for In-State Rival Spurs

Mavericks fans are imploring Dirk Nowitzki to become the player he was just one year prior. They are thirsty for another run at the title. Catch fire, guys! Start showing your resolve and compete with the upper echelon of the Western conference. With San Antonio coming to town Saturday night, Dallas has a chance to record a quality victory, ensuring that they will be a force to be reckoned with from here on out. Dirk, fresh off a 27points-5 assists-6 rebound effort, will be looking to reciprocate that tomorrow night.

Jason Terry and Rodrigue Beaubois combined 13-22 from the field to score 32 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Bench production has become a huge factor in determining which team will rise out of the extremely deep West. If the Mavericks can depend upon their inconsistent bench more often, they will be a force to be reckoned with for the coming stretch run.

Ian Mahinmi gave the Mavericks 20 great minutes, posting a +23 when he was on the court. He also scored 8 points, grabbed 5 boards and proved that he can be a force in the middle on defense, changing shots. If Dallas can continue the balanced scoring as well as the intangibles needed from the defensive end, they will continue to rise in the West. This upcoming week is very important, however, so look to see how the Mavericks respond to a tough upcoming schedule. They have the superstar in Dirk and a great supporting cast to make a stretch run, however, if age catches up to them quicker than they can respond, look for Dallas to be a quick out in the postseason, looking forward to their very cap-space-open summer 2012 where they figure to be a big player, potentially going after Dallas native, Deron Williams to replace Jason Kidd, who’s contract is up following this season.
