At the half, the Lakers lead 51-47

The Mavs started the second quarter on fire, but they ended it ice cold.  The team just couldn’t buy a basket and they committed too many turnovers.  Dirk Nowitzki has been playing well for Dallas, scoring 18 points and grabbing 5 rebounds.  Jason Terry has had a good game thus far, with 12 points in the first half.  The Mavs have to find their offensive flow as they got out of sync.

The Mavs also need to make some adjustments defensively as Andrew Bynum is dominating them in the paint, leading the Lakers with 14 points.  Lamar Odom has 10 and Kobe Bryant has 9.  I have a feeling Kobe is going to be looking to take more shots in teh second half, although there is really no need.  The Lakers are having a lot of success pounding the ball into the paint.  It would be foolish to change that approach until the Mavs can stop it or Bynum gets into foul trouble.

The Mavs need better production from Shawn Marion, who was 0-for-5 from the field.   Peja Stoyakovic has not been shooting well and he is going to have to start hitting the open looks that he is getting.  The game is close.  The Mavs need to come out of the half and take control of this game.  They can’t let the Lakers gain confidence and momentum while taking the crowd out of the game.
