When many of the so called experts picked you to be a bottom dweller this season it is kind of nice to be sitting pretty at 7-3 and third in the division. True,it is only 10 games into an 82 game season. but things are looking up for the Mavericks.
Six of their ten games have been on the road. Four of them were victories with impressive wins over the Rockets and Lakers. Home has been kind to the Mavericks as well where they have managed to score over 120 points in 2 of 4 games on the way to a 3-1 home record.
What makes the future really seem bright for the Maveriks is that they have yet to play their best ball. So far the fortunes of the team have gone the way of superstar Dirk Nowitzki. On the season he is averaging nearly a dble-dble with close to 26 points and 9 boards. As a team the Mavericks are averaging over 100 while holding their opponents to 93.
For the team to really have a chance to do something this season the rest of the gang is going to have to find their ‘A’ game on a more consistant basis. Jason Kidd is averaging fewer that 7 point a game and 8 assists. Josh Howard provided a spark before he got hurt. the team’s second highest scorer does is Jason Terry at 17.2/game and he does not even start!
It is good that these issues are occuring at the beginning of the season. They have another 72 to figure them out befor ethe real season starts
