Option C
The Dallas Mavericks could easily be overlooking their game on Wednesday night. They are playing a team that allows an average of 96 points a game; good for a team that scores over a 100. They score less than 90; the Mavericks have held five opponents to 90 points or less including the world champion Lakers. As easy as it could be to overlook the lackluster New Jersey Nets that is the last thing the Mavericks should do. The Mavericks will be faced with a team desperate to find something to cheer for, and right now the only thing the [...]
J Kidd! My Man!
I love to see one of the games greatest all around players doing well, but at the same time I am cursing this man’s name. For the first three weeks of the season this man was not playing good basketball. His point total looks half way decent because of a 19 point effort against Utah, but points are not what you look to this man for. J Kidd is known in fantasy circles as being a guy that does not screw up much. There may be plenty of games where he scores 9, has 7 boards, and 8 assist, but [...]
Looking Good! Looking Good!
In the lexicon of sports there is one steadfast thing which all players, coaches, fans, analysts, experts, owners, etc. can count on: A win is a win is a win is a win. It does not matter how ugly or how pretty they are just that you have more of them than the other guy at the end of the season. While some of the Mavericks early wins were not the prettiest (okay, they were kind of ugly), they have turned it on of late winning five in arow on the way to a 10-3 record and a tie for [...]
So Far So Good
When many of the so called experts picked you to be a bottom dweller this season it is kind of nice to be sitting pretty at 7-3 and third in the division. True,it is only 10 games into an 82 game season. but things are looking up for the Mavericks. Six of their ten games have been on the road. Four of them were victories with impressive wins over the Rockets and Lakers. Home has been kind to the Mavericks as well where they have managed to score over 120 points in 2 of 4 games on the way to [...]
Just Trying to Help a Brother Out, Right Mark?
The LA Dodgers are not up for sale, but Mark Cuban has made it known that he would be interested in buying a controlling interest in the current National League Western Division champs. I got to give Mark credit for saying something while saying nothing in the email which the LA Times quoted saying: “If a unique situation came up where I could contribute capital to buy out a majority shareholder and gain control, with existing shareholders or note holders staying in place, I would consider it.” (yahoo) If. Big word here. Could be Mr. Cuban is expecting the divorce [...]
Ask and Ye Shall Receive!
The egomaniac in me would love to believe that the Mavericks got together Friday night and read my last entry asking for them to get it together in time for their home game Saturday night against the Raptors. Why? Because obviously they listened! 129 points! letme say that again- 129 points! That is some serious offensive output. Five guys scored in double figures with- surprise surprise- everyone’s favorite giant German Mr. Dirk Nowitzki leading the charge with 29. With 32 assists spread across the team, relative to only 16 for the Raptors, these guys obviously worked together to reach those [...]
AS Dirk Goes, so go the Mavericks
Last night proved that the Mavericks fortunes rest on the shot of power forward Dirk Nowitzki. With the lead and the ball and just 10 ticks left on the clock the guys could not homd on and lost in OT by a score of 107-114. Jason Terry had a hell of a game shooting 12 of 18 from the floor and 7 of 10 from the line. If only the Great German Hope could have made a few more then maybe the Mavs could have pulled it out Wednesday night against the Hornets. As it was, he shot only 4 [...]
3 Games Down, 79 to Go
After a busy offseason it was finally time for the Mavericks to begin their journey to the postseason last week as the 2009-10 NBA season tipped off. With three games in the books they stand atop their division with two wins on the road during week one action. Fans were treated to a home opener on Tuesday night against the now-healthy Gilbert Arenas and the Washington Wizards. Dirk did his past with 34 points and 9 boards but it was not enough. Prior to tip off, Shawn Marion told the crowd: “We’re going to take you on a long journey. [...]
